Boaz Vaadia (1951‒2017), the internationally acclaimed sculptor, amassed a prodigious body of work over his 40-year artistic career. Born in Gat Rimon, Israel, Vaadia began his journey with sculpture at the age of 12. He attended the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Jaffa and Pratt Institute in New York.
Vaadia received many awards and accolades, such as The National Endowment for the Arts Grant in the United States, and the Utsukushi-ga-hara Open Air Museum Award, in Nagano, Japan. He was also named “Person of the Year” in 2014 by the Russian American Foundation. With the global recognition his art received, Vaadia continued to work at the edge, discovering new possibilities in the constantly shifting grounds of his sculpture.
