first artist book (FAB) series

In addition to our standard publishing program, TABF offers an exciting opportunity for small, mid-size, and college museums to publish the work of emerging and under- recognized contemporary artists, enabling these arts institutions to expand their exhibitions and educational programming while increasing their global reach and influence.

The FAB Series also provides an equal opportunity for artists who have been historically underrepresented and excluded from the publishing process (people of color, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people with disabilities). Approximately 10–20% of each print run will be donated to underserved public libraries, schools, and prisons to encourage access to the visual arts for those who may not be aware of these artists or are unable to purchase these books.

The FAB Series editions will enjoy the same worldwide distribution as our standard publishing program in addition to carefully developed curriculum initiatives as classroom guides.

Print run and related data:

Anticipating a print run of 750 or 1,250 copies, the FAB Series books will be evenly distributed between the museum and TABF. The museum’s copies are intended for its bookshop and library, as well as its educational department and programs.
TABF’s copies are for book donations to underserved communities via Art Resources Transfer (A.R.T.) and worldwide distribution.

The FAB Series is designed to accommodate a limited print run and budget while providing world-class publishing services. The museum agrees to shared costs, based on the final print run, that will cover the author’s fee, editorial review, design, and production.
